Dear Parents

let me get straight to the point:

Why are you so disappointed in me?
Why is it that whenever you see other people's work - ones that are exceptionally better than mine - that you feel that i've failed you?

Has it not occurred to you that i might have tried as hard as everyone else?
Has it not occurred to you that i might have classmates that are more adept at design or at animation than i am?
Has it not occurred to you that i might not be used to the software?
Has it not occurred to you that animating on that certain software my not be my strong point?

Why is it only when i've gotten an award or i've gotten a high distinction that you tell your friends how good i am; why is it that you never seem to be proud of my other work - i never hear you talking about how your son aspires to be a television producer or something like that.

Has it not occurred to you that i'm NOT my classmates.

My experience in design and Their experience differs, my style and their style...

why you dont get that?
i dont know.

yknow what?
i'll show you, i'll be so damn successful you'll have no choice BUT to be proud of me.

oh and btw;
saying "i'm not comparing you" and then saying that i dont work as hard on my Major Project as my friends did, completely negates that fact that "you're not comparing me".

Late at Night

When everyone's asleep...

i crave companionship the most.

sometimes, i just like the fact that someone's there.
it's probably that i just got so used to living in the same room as someone, now that i have my own room, it feels kind of empty.

to be honest - it's only around this time that i want a friend or Garbo to just be there...
mostly to talk, or in garbo's case - look at her while she studies or does anything (even tweeze her hairs).

even though i know right now, it's in my best interest to go to sleep - seeing as it's almost 2am and i'm going to church in the morning - i feel like just spending some time with someone.

i hate it when i know i've absolutely exhausted my options on the internet - like i've checked facebook like a gajillion times, the same with twitter and youtube and dailybooth - cos there's nothing else to do.

to be honest, normally i would watch a movie or a tv show that i've downloaded.
but i'm saving all the movies until i go to china - so me and garbs can do the whole "night in" kinda thing (which we failed to do the first time cos we were always tired after running around the city being all touristy).

lately, i've just gotten really clingy to garbo all of a sudden.
even i've noticed it (she's prob not just saying anything).

i dunno, i just feel the need to be with her all the time.
i think it's because i feel insecure with all those guys Mackin' on her in China

that i'm afraid that i'll lose her.

i'd HATE for that to happen - but knowing garbo, i know it wont.
but for some reason it's not enough. I NEED to be with her.

oh and you know what i've also noticed?

i dont have a clique at church.
like i dont have a Certain group that i belong in.
well, that's what i feel like.

the thing is, i'm friends with almost everyone. i try to be nice to the new guys, if i havnt spoken to one guy at youth i try to get to know them more. yknow, christian brotherhood kinda stuff.

but i dont have the kind of group thing that i have at Uni, or with my mates (we call ourselves "The Brotherhood - kinda lame but whatever). i'm usually wandering about after church looking for someone to say hi to, or have a chat. but everyone seems to have their own niche.

do i need to be more exclusive? i'm still in the HighSchool Youth because i cant adjust to the young adults one... and also i have leader responsibilities (which i probably took on so i can stay for longer), and also my Uni had got me going to classes on a wednesday evening, which was when the Young Adults had their youth night thing.

ahhh it's too late and i'm just going on about crap.
i need to sleep.

My Wishlist

So, because Steben told me to - and mostly because i have nothing to blog about lately; i'm gonna do a wishlist.

1. An HD Camera.
to be exact a Sony HVR-Z7P

its a really pro camera but i want one for future use, business and what not.
if not... a Sanyo Xacti - cos it's cheap and good.

2. A proper Desk.
like one from ikea or something.

as long as i have a proper desk, not like my 3rd Grader Red Desk -  stephen knows.

3. Monkey King (Son WuKong) Ring
see this guy?

see that thing on his head? there's a ring of that. i saw it at a trendy japanese t shirt boutique.

i wannit (which explains it being on my list)

4. A Tattoo... Maybe

yeah i want a tattoo...

I know it's a TAD patriotic, but what the hey; it's an awesome design and i've been meaning to get this for a long time now.

lol i love how all my wish list items cost alot of money...
looks like i'll need to get myself a job... or two.

i love marketing

i really do

i just love how advertisements and brands just manipulate us into buying their stuff.

dont get me wrong, im not saying that the world is run by capitalists and blah blah blah, freedom this, anarchy that.

i already get enough of that at Uni.

i'm saying that i always look for the best thing out there, whether it's computers, clothes, gadgets, even food. if it's new and exciting, lemme at it.

providing i have money - which as of current - i dont.

technology might be advancing at such a fast rate, the economy might be getting a teensy bit better, but the wonders of advertisements never change.

for example.

Coca Cola.

everybody in the WORLD knows it. it's like one of the most recognized words of the english language next to "hello" and "OK".

since they released coke, they have had some of the best ads out there, from the christmas ads to the more recent "happiness in every bottle" slogan.
it makes it SO MUCH MORE appealing to the public if said drink was going to make your party better, and who doesnt want their party to be better?!

now, not only does advertising make us feel like we have to buy something because it's going to make us a better party host or that it makes being with friends a whole lot more enjoyable (than it already is), it also lies.

like you didnt know that already.

what i mean is, advertising or branding just uses the same formula and wraps it up in a different package.

like diet soft drinks (or soda, or pop - depends where the hell you come from);

normally people who drink those kinds of drinks (low in sugar, low in joules or calories) are either Women or Health conscious pricks.

ok, not all health conscious ppl are pricks... i mean it's good to be healthy - it's just that some make it their life's work to tell every one how they've ran 30kms on the treadmill and how they love the smell of their pre packed and calorie counted lite n easy meals cos they wouldnt be able to live with themselves if they put on that extra pound.

now with most guys, fit or not, sometimes being found with a diet coke bottle in your hand is very emasculating. no man is afraid of a little sugar! not unless you're diabetic. nowadays men are more accepting, we wear pink, some wear make up... we blur the borders now.

but seriously, think about it. the only Men you see having a "Diet Coke" are well... gay or efemminate. (which btw dont fall into the category of pricks - some are quite nice guys)

that's why the wonders of advertising and branding devised a cunning little plan to make sure guys who DO want a little less sugar in their soda dont get chastised out in public and shown as a sissy.

and so they presented "Coke Zero"

now, this concept was not new at all.
there was already Pepsi Max.

yeah, that's right. if you didnt know - pepsi max is pretty much diet pepsi - for men.
rememeber how pepsi max ads are all like guys doing hardcore stuff and the slogan at the end is like "Maximum taste - no sugar"? i mean look at the actual can! it's got breakdancers and stuff on it, and we all know breakdancers are awesome (no sarcasm there).

yeah - if you bought that and you're now drinking pepsi max because you like it and you think it's hardcore to drink it while it having no sugar... you've just be advertised.

and you're also a bit of a prissy.

i'm kidding.

so Coke released this Coke Zero and you guessed it. it's Diet Coke for guys.
they've also approached it the same way as pepsi did, it's HARDfknCORE to drink Coke Zero cos it makes you blow crap up and do all that crazy stuff all with out sugar! and sugar is a big no no.

and it's worked!

young men are buying this because they feel since it's low on sugar, it's good for them and they wont get made fun at cos they're not drinking a "girls drink".

i'm not really trying to make much of a point here.
just saying that i love how advertising shapes the way we choose what to buy or what to drink because it focuses on something that we desire as humans.

acceptance from others

if we buy this certain clothing brand it'll make us feel like we're part of something - either a clique or a fashion movement (which will probably pass on) or if we buy buy coke zero instead of diet coke guys might feel like they're keeping their masculinity.

it's all about being part of a group.
and hey, if you identify yourself within a certain group then go for it. drink that Coke Zero/pepsi max/diet coke/diet pepsi with pride.

i'm just gonna sit here with my normal sugar loaded Coke (no pepsi for me thanks) and be awake for the next 6 hours.

Cheers.

Hisashiburi da ne

it HAS been a while.

since then i've pretty much finished my Major Project (soon to be put on YT for your convenience) and some of my assignments.
i've still to submit them but that's no biggie.
i also have to animate this thing for our end of year DVD to showcase our stuff and what not.

i'm %80 sure on the date that i'll be going to China... all i need is the money (which will be coming in a couple of days) and all that's left is Graduation.
well sorta, cos i might be doing a Bachelor's Course in Animation and interactive media next year (only one more year though).

we have a puppy now, still dont know what to name it - either Ratchet or James (i like ratchet better cos it doesnt sound like i'm calling my Sister's friend)
i dunno it's breed - my sister says its dad was a pug or something.
but it's tiny and it's gonna stay that way.

awesome.

i've also bought DJ Hero, so if anyone out there wants to add me, gimme your friend code thingie and i'll add you. cos i dunno how to find mine :P

what else...

i guess that's it.

oh!

i'm doing Movember again - not fundraising tho - i'm just trying to see how much of a mustache i can grow in a month.
i'll try and post a picture on Daily Booth everyday for the month of Nov. so you can see the progress of my 'Tache.

which i predict wont be much anyway.

Crap, I have no Internet...

Right so let's cut to the chase,

I've moved house, much further from my uni, oddly enough.
It's in keysborough but most of yall probably don't even know where that is except for the fact that it's in Australia.
But I digress, I don't live in a 2 bedroom flat anymore, I've got my own room now thanks to my incessant complaining about how I'm 20 and how why I still have to share a room with a bloody 10 yr old.

But this means I can decorate. my room the way I wanted to for ages now, I can put up the posters that had collected dust, rolled up because of the lack of wall space. I can get a decent green screen goin since I don't have to compete space with my female sibling anymore. Although I don't think that's gonna make me make more videos :P

Back to the point, since I've moss house I now have a new number, new address (no crap), and a new phone number. That also means that I had to get my Internet relocated and there no guarantee that my net is gonna be available in the area that I will now be calling home in the next couple of years. On top of that, i found out yesterday that the phoneline in our house is shot and the telecoms ppl have to fix it... Gosh, I don't think i could live like this.

So enough with the pleasantries, we technically started the move on Thursday, didn't go to class cos it was too early, and also couldn't go to the next class cos I was to tired. I was told to start packing my clothes into boxes so we can just move it all at once and be over with, oh how I wish it was like that. Anyway, Friday dad borrowed a van from a friend and be and I moved our entire living room plus a ton of books in boxes to the new house and going there was the actual first time that I saw the place since I heard about it a fortnight ago. So we carried the heavy arse sofa-bed and the 2 arm chairs, I hurt my forearm and that was that for the day. Saturday he whole Lim clan came to help out, my aunts and uncles including my cousin helped out with the moving and packing of the test of the stuff, which were mostly mum's, who btw had 5, count them, 5 big straw bags (yknow those?). How much clothing can one person wear in a week?

So it's Thursday and the house still looks like it's been ransacked by robbers, but know what? I don't really care (that much), as long as I got a place where I can vlog in peace then I'm happy.

Btw this was written during a train ride to uni and uploaded through uni wifi >:D

L4D2 Classification Left for Dead?!

ok, with weeks upon the release of the Sequel to the very popular First Person Shooter by Valve, Australian Government's Classification Board, who filter games and movies and practically every media that comes to australia, have effectively BANNED Left 4 Dead 2.

which begs the question - why was it banned?

a statement released by the Classification Board says that it refused to classify L4D2 on the grounds that it has "realistic, frenetic and unrelenting violence".

realistic, frenetic and unrelenting violence on ZOMBIES~!

right, so the last L4D didnt have that? it's the same damn gameplay (albeit with some changes in weaponry, characters, graphics and story). but come on, it's practically the same game. High Emphasis on GAME.

there's so much argument on the whole "Video Games influence children to commit acts of violence" but all we hear are those prudish people who think any source of enjoyment is a chance for the children of the future to be corrupted by.

but i'm straying from the topic, which is - why the hell the Australian Govt. wont allow this game to be sold here.

y'see australia's got a classification system here that ranges from "G" for General to MA15+ - Mature Audiences 15yrs and Older and sometimes R18+ (Restricted for 18yrs+).

we've got all that in our movies and what not but our Games stop at MA15+.
so anything that is classified over MA15 is theoretically banned from getting into the country. i dont get it - what's the difference from watching an R18+ Movie and playing a similarly classified game?

is it because you "get to do" those R18+ type things? i dont know - all i know is, i sure ain't out in the street gunning down civilians just because i played Counter Strike.

so okay; you tell me if it's sold here in australia - children can buy this game and be influenced with gory violence early on in life.
well that's why we need the 18+ classification; a child cant buy a certain game unless he proves that he's 18 and over, and if an adult buys it for him/her then it's that Adult's decision and responsibility.

what im saying is - game developers work to the bone and when they end up releasing to Australia or some other country they lose a majority of their audience because that country banned it, and not alot of sales mean not alot of money in the pockets of those hard working developers, coders, illustrators, and every one workin in that industry.

another Game released recently was Fallout 3 and it was banned because it had a bit in the game where you can buy drugs (which were correctly named) and use them in the game.
to be able to be released here in Australia they had to set back the release and rename all of the drugs so they didnt match their real life counter parts.

and it was allowed to be sold here.

do they think we're stupid? it's DRUGS. no matter what the name is it's gonna do your body some harm.

so i guess the only way L4D2 is gonna get released here in Aus is if they turn down the violence or the gore or something stupid like that.
it's not gonna be the same game experience, and it feels like you're drinking a heavily watered down glass of Kool-aid or Cordial or Juice;

tasteless.

the Big Freaking Two Oh

who's got 2 thumbs and is cynical? this guy.

so as of midnight tonight; i am 20.

i know.

i cant believe 12 years ago i was just this short asian kid who could speak english quite well.

and now. freaking 20.

i'm not a teen anymore; i mean i cant make excuses anymore. i'm forced to make decisions on my own and be responsible for them.
sure, they expected that when i became 18 but nobody takes anyone seriously with an age that has the suffix "teen" on it.

i dont even bother capitalising the start of my sentences let alone take care of myself.
i havnt really tried out my resilience in living by myself, as i have not left the family residence.
nor do i plan to unless i make substantial money for myself.
aaaanyway moving on.

i've slightly out grown the whole birthday party thing, i mean, i still like receiving them but not so much organising and planning and whatnot.

it's too much work and you get alot of flack from friends or "friends" you havnt invited.

what i'm saying is, age is overrated. i dont need some number dictating how i should damn well act.
i will act as i please thanks very much, if you dont like it - bugger off.

no seriously - i would like to be able to watch cartoons, play computer games and run around like a lunatic while out with mates even though i'm bloody 20.

who knows, i'll probably be doing the same even when i'm 80...

only slower.

Gah! so much work.

i've been inundated with so much work recently; i have no room to breathe.

but the sucky thing is; i've been procrastinating a bit with the only time i have to work on em.

i have this major project due in like 12 weeks; then i have this freakin Conference videos due in 2 weeks (July 31) and i have this debutant Ball to go to on Aug 1 and i have to learn this dance and everything.

i have 4 days of class a week but they take up most of the day. i then have dance prac every thurs evening and sunday afternoon.
fridays, sat and sunday is for church.

and the only time i have is monday and every other friday afternoon.

if i only have one class in a day i usually go home and sleep which takes up more time from work.

and on top of that i haz no ob cos i haz no time to work. not even freakin freelance.

sigh...

i'd be so glad to get this Advance Diploma course over and done with.
i dont even know if i want to go and do a batchelors.

pah. whatever. i'l just worry about what i've got now.

take care yall.

RIP Michael Jackson

so i wake up and i see this on twitter:

"oh no; MJ's in Hospital"
"RIP Michael Jackson"

and etc

i was honestly shocked by the news and the fact that it was unconfirmed at first, but gradually fiction was turning into fact.

but here's the thing.

amidst the tweets and status updates of condolence there were some of these:

"good riddance to that pedophile"
"ding dong the freaky freak is dead"

really?
the man is DEAD

leave him alone already. (i'm not gonna go chris crocker but hear me out)

he influenced alot of things. he was one of the first to make music videos that was like a movie (best eg THRILLER). he popularized popping and locking; and i'm not gonna say he "Invented" the moon walk cos he didnt - he just renamed it and popularized it. (it's called the glide btw)

he freaking wrote some of the best pop songs known to man. he was one of the best performers out there, he was a singer, dancer, song writer... he was THE Package.

a death is a death. no matter how bad the person is; their life does not mean any less than that of someone with a better reputation. i agree he's made tremendous mistakes but the fact of the matter is that a man has died. would you want someone to remember you through your faults or your achievements?

i can tell you that he shouldnt have changed his looks so much, i can tell you that he shouldnt have done those things that he's now so famous for, but i can tell you this.

God loves him as much as he loves you.

everyone is equal to His eyes; and for that - i'm not gonna celebrate that an accused pedophile and over all mess has died.

i'm going to mourn that another human being has passed on.

RIP Michael Jackson,
You'll be Missed.

Last Air Bender Teaser Trailer

here it is guys; it's finally out.
it's not much but i guess it shows promise.

Complete WTF-ery

i dont know if you guys know, but there's gonna be an AVATAR: The Last Airbender Movie.

as a fan of the show i initially thought it was gonna be so cool; being able to see this bald monk with arrow tattoos gliding around in his air scooter.

well i was half right.

there IS going to be a bald monk kid that can bend all 4 elements...

But he's gonna be white

i dont know if M. Night Shamalamadingdong watched the LAST movie that had an asian character cast with a White Kid.
cant remember? lemme refresh your memory.

oh wow that's horrible.

anyway; it seems that a couple of picture have been leaked on the net as to who Aang and Prince Zuko is.
have a look.

Aang doesnt even look like freakin Aang, he looks like some white kid who decided to cosplay Aang at his local ComiCon or some crap.
And Zuko (who BTW is Dev Patel from Slumdog Millionaire) is just well...

WEREN'T THEY ASIAN?!

ok technically Dev Patel IS asian... just the wrong kind.

And on top of that apparently the casting calls SPECIFICALLY

i repeat - SPECIFICALLY stated that the characters of Aang, Kitara, Sokka and Zuko were to me (and i quote) "Caucasian or any other Ethnicity"

OR ANY OTHER?!

like it was going to be a back up idea that Kitara was going to an Inuit girl.
She was meant to be one in the first place!

that's just only a fraction of what i read on this site:

http://www.racebending.com/

have a good look and decide for yourself.
i know it kind of seems like they're making a big fuss out of this but if you think about it in the stance that for this movie to work with the white actors; they're going to have to strip all Easter Culture from this movie for the characters to even barely blend in the story.
in short, they have to white wash the movie, just so the actors dont look so out of place.
oh and while i was reading the rest of the site - i was taken aback by the fact that the movie "21" - yknow, the blackjack movie - was based on a book that had Asian students INSTEAD of what we've been given, caucasian.

but that's ok - i guess, seeing that there wasnt much culture to "whitewash" other than the characters themselves, it still made the story work somewhat.

i'm rambling here, but all i want to say is that if they go through with the casting on this movie - it's going to suck the same balls that dragonball: evolution did.
and not the glowing yellow ones.

Ps.
there's an online petition boycotting the casting for the movie; here's the link:

http://www.petitiononline.com/racebend/petition.html

and dont forget to check out the website at: http://www.racebending.com

ZOMG VlogBrother!

so yeah i got to meet john green on sunday (it's now almost 3am monday as i type this) and it was pretty cool.

it wasn't in a Youtube gathering Environment but it was still Rad nonetheless.

He talked about Paper Towns; what was the meaning behind it and he took questions from the crowd (of like...30, it was 11am sunday morning).

he was really chill and cracked some funny ones. i kinda wanted to stay back for the 2pm one just to see if he had something different but i had to go home and work on a church video.

i was trying to figure out if i should bring my VidCam or my(ahem Dads ahem) DSLR.
i decided on the DSLR and sometimes i regret not having a close friend who knows about the VlogBrothers to go with me yesterday just so they could maybe film while i take photos or vice versa.

cos john freakin danced his happy dance; i mean it's one thing seeing it on YT but it's another seeing it IRL.

ok i sound like a fan girl - shutup.

anyway - it came time for john to sign books and what not; and they let us go out if we need to get anything - and get something i did.

they were selling john's 3 books that he wrote by himself.

Looking For Alaska
An Abundance of Katherines
and of course Paper Towns

i wanted to get the 1st 2 cos i CBS looking for em in bookstores.

and i found out - that AAoK isnt even going to be released here in Aus. until like... July or something. Air Freighted Copy - Booyah!

but i didnt have enough cash on me and i only had my card. so i ran - RAN - to the nearest Commonwealth Bank ATM (which was fortunately 100meters or so away - because i dont wanna pay $2 surcharge... freakin banks.) and ran back.

only to find out that they had an eftpos machine thingie anyway! gah.
i bought the two books (for a cheap $30 may i add), waited till my row got called (i arrived slightly late so i was 4 rows before the last) and waited.

while i was waiting i recognised some Aussie YT in the line infront of me; but by the time i could say hi - they've already gone.

except for 1. we'll get back to that later.

so i got to meet john green, Far out he's a REALLY nice guy. i'd love to hang around his house and just listen to him ramble on about his passion for cartography and race cars. i mean he already does that in his videos but IRL there's no jump cuts :P

that aside he was pleased to know i lost sleep because i couldnt put his book down. and he then proceeded to sign all 3 books ( i bought my copy of PT aswell.. duh). i took a photo with him and we said our farewells.

so yeah the other YTer that was there was FREZNED (who is 2nd most subbed comedian in YT Australia) i asked him if i could take a photo and proceded to rave about how he hasnt made a video in months (so have i actually - i promise to make one after this week). we talked for a couple more seconds and i then went on my way home. if i seriously didnt have anything to do - i woulda hung around.

definitely.

anyway - i went home and got some Chicken Curry Don for lunch.

got cracking on the Promo Video and i ws hit with complication after complication; in the end the thing stopping me was FinalCut's inability to export videos fully and to constantly leave 5-10 secs off the end so you have your video (which is around 100mb) being incomplete, and having taken about 15 mins to export.

i did that about 7 times. as i waited i read Looking For Alaska.

i'm 1/3 done. that's how long it freakin took. and i leisurly read - didnt do any speed reading. like any one cares.

finally it finished and i sent it to my friend who gave me the thumbs up.
all done.

so yeah - i'm now doing this while listening to the ambient sounds of Garbo's Room.

speak to you all later!

i cant believe its been 11 years since i met you at GCF for that summer sunday school thingie (Jesus' Kids; totally His! >.<)
and then to my surprise you enrolled at MY school - fate had it in for us.

Even though i lost contact with you for a good 7-8 years, i somehow never forgot you, maybe because i had a thing for you then - i dunno - but you can imagine how psyched i was going back to visit the Phils. only to find out that you've moved back here to Aus. :S

Then i got your YM, then your Msn, and before you know it - i'm visiting you in Sydney. I swear, even though the visits i've made (2 and counting :P) have been somewhat short - they've been the most fun.

i know we've had our moments, i know i've made promises to you that i ended up breaking and even though we're now starting to live our separate lives; i'll never forget the times we've had together.

(this is starting to become some sort of long winded break-up speech :P)

Basically i just wanna say that you're a great girl and an even greater friend. I love you heaps and i hope we stay friends till we're old and wrinkly.

See ya when i See ya huh?

Chivalry isnt Dead, but it sure is neglected

i'm sure most of you that read this know of Natalie aka NDTitanLady of youtube.
and have probably watched her video of her worst date ever.
if you havnt yet - watch it.

now that you've watched that.
lets get into it.

sometimes it's not our fault.

you might be going;
"are you crazy? that guy was an arse!"

yeah, he was.
but other men tend to become Mr. Jerkface because some women are equally Jerky.

yeah - that's right.

sometimes women who are too "Empowered", too engrossed in the "independent woman movement" give chivalry a bad name.

i'm not saying that women have to be confined to the kitchen or whatever (woman! make me a sandwich! lol) - by all means, be self sufficient, be independent. But when a nice guy opens a door for you or pays the bill; don't lose your head thinking he's looking down at you or he's making you feel inferior.

ladies - pull your head outta your arse. he's just being nice - it means he likes you.

thats why sometimes guys can be jerks without knowing it - because they've experienced the "Miss Jerkfaces" so many times they dont know what to do to be nice anymore.

they think twice when holding the door open for her, or letting her go in first... the small stuff that men were expected to do a couple of decades ago.

when i was small, my parents would teach me on how to be a gentleman, they taught me that when you're walking with a woman - doesnt matter what her age is - you always walk on the side that's closest to the road. so if your walking on the right side of the road - you walk on her left.
so if a car comes speeding towards you - you can push her out of the way.

yeah? yeah.

back then, if you didn't pay for the date, YOU were the Jerkface.
back then, if you didn't go up to the door to pick up your date for the prom, you would be considered an arse (and the parentals would have a thing or two to say about you)

but now, feminism's just gone way over the top. i believe in equal rights for everyone, but that doesnt have to cancel out being nice and polite.

phew... yep that's it for me.

take care of yourselves.
and for the love of pete; dont be so uptight.

i'm so freaking busy

and having no internet doesnt help.

seriously all week last week was me working on Youth Stuff and Church Stuff aswell as Homework and Assignments and Classes.

honestly - i think when i went home last week; majority of it was at 9pm. give or take a couple of hours.

either from church or work.

and the only time i can unwind is at home - on the internet - chatting with people - by people; i mean garbo. :P

anytime i have a chance to talk to you americans - i'm off at class or just too damn busy with housework/homework/assignments.

i havnt even got time to post a vid saying i'm busy.

all i got is my tweets and my dailybooths.

that aside; internet is pissing me off.
it constantly drops out and loses connection.
so i'd be talking to someone and then 2 mins later - nothing. i got d/c

i called my ISP and the lines were full. i assumed it's because their service was jsut dead for everyone.
so i called through another call service (mobile phones query) and asked THOSE guys some questions.

when i DID get through - the chick jsut told me maybe it's the router. get a friend to lend you their modem and test it out.

i dont have any friends that have the same internet connection (adsl2+) therefore they dont have the same modem.
and apparently - if they send ppl to fix the line and there wasnt any problem - they're gonna charge us.

WTH.

anyway tomorrow i got a day off... kinda - evening school. so i'll count it as a day off. gotta do with what you're given.

hopefully i can talk to so of yall then.

peace and word to your mom.

*WARNING* LONG ARSE/ASS BLOG

so on saturday i had a pretty nice day - albeit the re-occuring bouts of cough that would aggravate my skull giving me a dull headache.

so i meet kate and hannah at melbourne central, we were going to go to a Dance comp. in which my friend Johnny and his Crew were participating. so we were going to show support. We were trying to decide where to eat and stuff when they told me they were going to make a banner for the comp.

who brings a poster to a HipHop Competition?!
sure you see em in ABDC or SYTYCD... but the underground, un-televised comps; no one does that - lest you be labeled Lame.
Kate and Hannah you see arent the kind of people that would be into hiphop.
i on the other hand...

anyway, so i decided to help them with their banner making and we went to get paper supplies from the art store near my uni; cos i get a discount :D
anyway, surrounding the art store are alleyways peppered with graffiti Pieces and random tags - it's an awesome place. but what wasnt awesome was some guy who was minding his own business was getting beat up by 3 guys.

like seriously; the girls and i stopped in our tracks and i stood infront of em.
yknow when you see something shoking all sorts of things go through your mind - yknow; fight or flight stuff like that.

i didnt think - i should help the guy, jump in the fray, be heroic - that kind of thing i'm usually not heard of doing :P
i also didnt think - maybe we should walk around the other way... it's safer.
no - first thing i thought of was

Shit, Am i in the shot? where's the camera?
crap hope i'm not ruining the shoot.

honest. that's the first thing that went through my mind.
the scene was so ridiculous; the 3 guys' method of inflicting pain was so weak that it didnt occur to me that it might've been actually real.

the Art shopkeeper, comes out yells at the gang "Oi! WTF are you doing?" whist brandishing a metal baseball bat.

and they ran... past us.

we walk past the bash-ee and people crowded around him, asking him questions and he was clueless. either that or he was covering up for em.... i dunno - i'm such a cynic.

we got our poster paper and glue and we went to look for a place to eat and put together the poster - we went to a indonesian cafe/restaurant and ate there.
it was hilarious because i had the idea of adding "i hart" to the poster of the crew name so it wouldve been "i hart Ntice"
but we needed a felt tip marker, which we dont have and didnt have time/money to get cos we were almost late. so we asked the staff at the restaurant if they had a felt tip marker. or generally called here in Australia a "TEXTA" (its a brand of marker).

and almost immediately we had a failure of communication with the waiter. i tried doing sign language, writing in the air while saying "pen, marker?"
he replied with "knife?"
so kate and hanna tried to help out
"do you have a marker? a Texta" says kate
"yeah, a texter, do you have a texter?" says hannah

my eyes twitched at the sound of "texter"

"sorry?" says the waiter
"a texta - yknow a permanent marker" says kate
"yeah, yeah, a texter, a texter" added hannah

and i just snapped.

"OMFG! it's TEXTA! TEX-TAH! - NOT BLOODY TEXTER! THERE'S NO FREAKING 'ER' AT THE END! SO WHY SAY TEXTER?! GOD! WHAT IS IT WITH YOU AUSSIES?!"

*sidenote - hannah and kate are filipino; but are pretty much white washed. except for kate cos she speaks kapampangan (local dialect of her parents) and a bit of filo, hannah just understands tagalog*

honestly; i have this Hatred with australians and the way they pronounce things. especially the Ah/Er sounds. i get how their accent tends to make words with "er" at the end sound like "ah", like breaker or shaker; it becomes breakah and shakah (shay-kah).
but the thing is, sometimes they just become retarded and switch the rules, especially when aussies "imitate" or mock American Accents (yknow - pronouncing the "r"s)
so when they say "America" they dont say "AMERICAH" they effing say "AMERICAR".
i just lose my sh!t right there.

the waiter comes back with a permanent marker; and we thank him - he jokingly asks for a dollar for the use of the pen, funny guy - i replied; i payed for the food and the drink! cmon mate.

we finished up and completed the banner - using the brown paper that once wrapped around the yellow poster paper as the extension where we wrote "We <3"
we met up with hannah's friend Bonnie, who - by the looks of the way she dressed was also a dancer - or in the HipHop Scene. finally someone i could relate to; when she heard of the banner idea - she laughed and stopped when she realized that the girls were serious.

we took the train there and arrived 15mins past 5 (apparently doors opened at 5) so we were expecting a long line. we were actually early and doors opened at 6. we got seats at the 3rd row in the middle. it was a pretty good spot.

the performances were Great, some were ok but others were pretty damn good - including johnny's.
but it wasnt just a dance comp - there was also singing aswell, so we got to hear a bunch of girls and 2 guys sing their rendition of popular songs or their own (as was the case of this guy called the Rudy Vee - crap singer btw)
This Chick sang "if i was a boy" and absolutely Destroyed the song... it was out of tune and was definitely not in her singing register; the verse was too low for her and the chorus was too strong for her to keep up.

one of the judges performed the same song... but it was definitely better. thank God.

anyway, Johnny danced so well - too bad i didnt get vid footage cos he was really good.
he even got an invite from another crew to join them! and it was his first performance!
amazing... makes me wanna join a hip hop crew.

sadly as well as johnny danced, they didnt win but it was ok cos they were up against really good crews and held their own even though it was their first perf.

the whole banner thing was pretty fail cos Kate and Hannah got too self conscious about it and ended up only doing it half arsed; like barely raising it up. i got fed up and snatched it from them and raised it up high like a crazy arse.
it even blocked the camera that was filming the performances (filming it badly may i add).

we headed home after the comp, and after we said our congrats to johnny's crew for doing so well, yadda yadda. we got off at Melb. Central again and i got some crepes cos i was hungry.
waited till kate, hannah and bonnie got on their trains then left for church (cos that's where my parents were).

went home with my parents arguing the whole way...

-------------------------------------------

the next morning... it all went sour.

i've already written way too much but i just want to say that this morning was the crappest sundays i've had ever.

i wasnt feeling well and i had splitting headache from the coughing that i've been having, i told my mum that i cant go to church because of it - she tried to call my bluff, didnt work. i told dad - he was slightly more cooperative but with an included insult... "why so you can play games all day?"

bastard

my sister then tried to borrow my Laptop cos she needed to practice this dance (for a secret perf.) but i needed it to work on an assignment due on tues. so i said no, and told her just use the portable dvd player - she said it's the wrong format, i asked her why didnt she convert it; she replied "it didnt work"
"well why didnt you try to find out another way?"
dad comes in and he's like "why do you need to practice at church anyway?"
"cos there's more room there than here at home" my sis replied
"you just want to show off dont you?" says dad

Really? you wanna go there? such an arse sometimes...

and he makes it that it's my fault and blablabla and starts interrogating my sis why she's practicing and she cant say cos well it's for him... for is "iftiethfay irthdaybay"

so out of frustration; i pack up my laptop and give it to my sister, just to stop all this shit.

they leave.

i then proceed to try and do some work on the other computer.

yknow that phrase when the shit hits the fan?
well it hit 30 mins ago - i didnt know there was a 2nd wave.

i get a call from church saying i was supposed to be on vision mixing but they've already got somebody else to do it... ugh.

and then i get my wacom tablet to work on some story boards and i find that not only is the USB cable and the Pen missing, those two things are currently in the bad that my sister used to put the Laptop in fater taking out the aforementioned Tablet and my sketch book.

FRAKIN HELL!

ugh... i still got some work done tho... drew em in my Sketch Book, but couldnt scan cos my laptop was with princess unprepared!

they day got reasonably better but with still acouple of hitches such as the internet dying for half an hour for no apparent reason.

anyway i'm pretty sure i've ranted and raved enough to last me till next week..
ttyl

if i dont die of high blood pressure or stroke.

Sunday Snorefest

it took my family 9 freakin hours to go home after church had finished today...
seriously

i'll tell you real quick what happened

after church they had a Filipino Fellowship meeting - which was ok, cos i had my laptop with me, which meant i could watch movies and surf the net.
this went on for 3 hours after 12pm.

at around 3 / 3:30pm they decide to pack up and go home
but my parents dont JUST go home...

some of us stayed back and dad had the brilliant idea of going down the local McDonalds... ok... free food, free internet - i'm ok with that.
but my laptop only had about an hour 30mins of life left.

we were there for almost 3 hours....

so yeah - at around 5:30-6:00pm my family (and the ppl we were with) decide to go home, so we walked to the car and lo and behold... dad cant find the keys

so mum and dad talk amongst themselves asking each other where each other's keys are
mum's are inside the trunk, in the bag
dad's are missing - presumably in the trunk as well
so we're trying to jimmy open the car doors through the key hole
but the keys that our car uses are realy diff from the usual key
so we were in deep
we could either - keep trying to open the door, or, call the car repair ppl and get them to open the door
which would cost us $
we chose the first option
so anyway, one of our family friends was with us and he was also trying to give suggestions on how we were gonna open the thing
i only had one thing on my mind... i wanna go home.

anywhoo - dad calls up of the people that were with us about hours ago and asks them if they could help
one is a mechanic
and the other has the same car as us - so we hope that his key might be able to open the car door atleast
so me, still as uninterested as ever; go to sleep in the other person's car
i wake up - and i find adults jamming crap down a gap in the passenger's side window

they had a plethora of wires and cables and they were pretty much trying to wind down the window
and somehow open the door that way
after about 15 mins or something, the guy that was with us the whole time, brings out a unravelled coathanger
which btw he had the whole time - just never thought of using it.
that aside, we used that and successfully open the car.

hooray! now i could go home!

big mistake

they stayed there talking about how it was great to have friends and if we didnt have anybody we'd be stuck

btw; they found both keys in the trunk
so anyway we stayed at the carpark for another hour before they decided that we should go to somebody else's house and talk some more.

i told them if they were gonna do that - they should spare us the long agonising death from boredom and take us home first

so that's what they eventually did.
and now i'm here... 9 hours after the church service actually finished
i pretty much bugged mum, and dad pretty much knew we'd rather be at home than be stuck with them and other adults for another freakin 3 hours

my parents can honestly (if they were left in their own devices) talk the leg off a damn donkey

like literally

FREAKING A.

First Week of a Second Year

so yeah - this is my last year of my course and i have just started on the first week.

my class pretty much started on tuesday; met up with a couple of my group mates whom i knew were in the same course last year but didnt talk to cos; well - they were in a diff. class. Ben was there though (ben's a mate from last year - same class) so i had someone to talk to.

anyway we were taught on how to animate on AfterEffects and utilising Lights, Cameras and Shadow effects to set the mood of a scene.

it turned out really awesome - i wish i could post it up here but i'm too lazy :P sorry.

next subject was a briefing on our group major project - but with different ppl again...
but i was fortunate enough to have 2 of the people for my group last year.

we were to make a short advertisement, a promotional poster, and a website for a charity of our choice (probably because of the whole bushfire thing).
we chose to do an environmental awareness group call "Friends of the Earth"
cos we didnt want to do a depressing charity like oxfam or world vision.
it's been done to death (no pun intended).

wednesday was a WTH day - i had to get out of the house at 12 to get to church, because i needed to film this week's Youth News; which btw i didnt get an email for.
so anyway since i had a class later in the day anyway i decided to stick around church.
i also started to do the rough cuts for the news so i dont have to stay up late editing the whole thing. but as i was capturing the video from the camera - it kept screwing up!
so the capturing (which was 13mins in total) took way longer than expected.
it was almost 5pm so i packed up and headed to the tram stop.

did i mention that my class was at 6:30pm? and it was my only class for the day?

i know, wth right?

that aside - i attended class and while the teacher was talking about the course we were doing, i fell asleep... for a good while, i woke up and only an hour had past...
=_=" it's gonna be a long night.
we ended up watching a 10 min clip of a movie 4 times and on the 2nd time watching it we had to list down all the noises we heard from the movie.
it was ok i guess.

thursday was ok too - Major Project class; had to share some of the ideas i had for a mojor project to the class - i was supposed to have 10 - i only had 4.
and seriously - it was like a freaking "Magic SchoolBus" Moment, my teacher was talking about Movie sets and he was like - "hey there's an exhibition in the ACMI (aus. center for the moving image) about movie sets; lets go!"
so yeah, we went on a surprise field trip to see how movie sets were implemented and created in the movie industry. and because of this trip - i was broke; i had to use my 10 bucks i was saving for dinner... i ended up getting dinner anyway but i had to use the money in my card.

I got told off during Design 3 (the class afterwards) cos i wasnt paying much attention to the teach.
i was on facebook and Aim talking to Elizabeth, a friend of mine from phils and my cousin in philippines (who by the way was telling me off cos i sleep late).

when i got home i finished up the Youth Video to show at youth today.

so Today - i only had one class but it was for 4 hours... but only went for 3 cos everybody just started to leave. it was pretty easy - basics of Website building and HTML... after that went straight to church and took care of everything that needed to be taken care of.
Loved the message today - really spoke to me; it was about relationships and about being with the right people and being in the right environment.

i got in a minivan - along with about 15 islander guys and girls (samoan, fijian... big guys) and me, my sis and this guy william were the only asians.

Dave (my fijian youth leader) drove us home and here i am; typing this blog and talking to garbo at the same time.

sorry for the long blog - just giving you the taste of what i'll be going through these next couple of weeks.

ugh... let this be over please.

starting my 2nd year

so yeah; i just had orientation today and our teachers gave us a schpiel on what we're supposed to expect during our last year in the course.

so i'm going to be doing mostly motion graphics and 2d animation. cos i hate 3d - it's too complicated.

anyhoo; the whole thing took like less than 2 hours to finish. so that meant that we all had time to spare to go out and catch up.

i saw everybody again and some didnt seem to change while others had some sort of makeover during the summer.
one friend of mine cut his hair (it was previously past his shoulders), i mean so did most of the guys.
as for the girls; uhmm there werent many girls in my class last year, so seeing them today wasnt much diff. although i was told that one of my classmates was going out with another guy in the same course for a good 2 months now.

so that aside, we're gonna have new lecturers/teachers this year as well as the old ones we had last year.

my timetables so weird though cos:

i have monday off
8:30am-3pm on tues (two classes - 3hrs each)
6pm-9pm on wed (yeah only one class)
12pm-6:30pm thurs (2 classes)
12-3pm fri (one class)

i'm not complaining about some of the time but the time's are really odd. i wonder if i'll be able to work with this kind of schedule...

so that's my day pretty much; when i got home i just took off my shoes and started playing L4D; kept losing - bad team - so i changed games and played TF2; pwned in that game.

left early and now i'm in my current position.
i'm about to watch Lie to Me, which is starting to become one of my favourite shows.
and its not because of the "youtube hype", i so coulda watched LTM even if SXEphil hadnt made a tag game of 2 truths and a lie to commemorate his liking of the show.

Check out this pen! the body's made out of rolled up recycled paper and the clippy thing's made out of recycled wood.
as for the plastic... i'm taking a stab that it's recycled too.

see you guys around,
take care

Venus Bay

so ok; i couldnt sleep and i ended up sleeping at 4:30am and i got woken up at 6. =.=

so we get ready; mum's practically bringing the whole house to the beach.
but we didn't go until 8 i think... cos we had to wait for my aunts to get to our house.

so anyway; dad gets irritated whenever we're late. so he's irritated already.

we get in the car and drive to Venus Bay; and dad needed to refill the LPG tank - but since it was sunday; everything was closed. that got dad even more annoyed.

so we're on the road looking for Gas stations that refills LPG tanks; we end up finding one but the guy refused to fill my dad's tank up cos "he was busy"...

what a bastard.

anyway we get to this surf shop, where we were gonna get our Fishing Licenses but apparently they dont sell the ones we need. pah
we were told that the life Savers building near the beach sells them, so i thought - Great! we can get it while were there and it'll be one smooth motion.

so we drive to the beach and we meet my uncle and aunt who funnily enough didnt recognize us even when we were a meter/3 feet away. lol
we go to the life savers building and they tell us that it's not open until 1pm.
crap 2 hours to burn. so we just waited underneath a shelter with the rest of my uncle's party.
We ate lunch as more people came to join us and the adults then decided to change to another beach cos there'll be more pipis there. so we did.
on the way back to our cars we thought since it's almost 1pm we can get the licenses now.

we thought wrong; we had to wait 10 mins for the 1st guy from the council to get there; he then informed us that another person will be coming to bring the books/permits.
5 mins past; another jeep rolls in, they tell us that they dont have the books and they have another person dropping by to give it to them.
another 10 mins past; it's practically 1:30pm by now and a crowd of ppl who want their fishing licenses to get Pipies/fish have gathered the kiosk window.

the council people then cordially inform us that this weekend is a "educational weekend" to teach us to buy the licenses ONLINE rather than the old way. wow, they're teaching us convenience by sacrificing out time and stretching our patience...

bastards

anyway, they then tell us that the place'll be open at 2. At 2? are you serial?
so i got fed up, we devised a plan to leave a couple of people to get the permits and the rest to move on to the beach.

so that's what we did.

i think like 30 mins or so later the rest of the people came back with the permits, so we all started to dig and hunt for the pipis.

it's cool cos you gotta dig into the sand to find them cos they bury themselves as the waves rush into the shore. and they look really creepy alive.
anyway, we ended up getting like a Shiz-load of em, like 2 big buckets full.
we divided them amongst the party... kinda like an RPG or WoW :P

so after that people started to leave to go home cos the other people lived like... 3-3.5 hours away where as we only lived like 1.5-2 hrs.
a couple of us stayed behind cos we wanted to go fishing in the lake.

i didnt catch anything but it was relaxing.

we finally went home and it was dark already - i checked the time and we got home at about... 10:40pm and the rest of the people didnt leave our house until 12 i think.

anway it's 3am now... and you're probably as tired as i am... not because it's late - it's because of this Freaking Epic Long Blog.

i'll finish up.

bye :P

Happy Lunar New Year

so yeah; for chinese lunar new year my family and a collection of our friends are going to Venus bay, give or take 120 km/65 mi south-east of Melbourne.

there were gonna go clamming, catch pippies...
these things:

so yeah; we're probably gonna end up bringing like a bucket of these things home to eat...

so if any of you likes seafood; come down to Ralphie's Clam Shack. :P

take care all; much love.

oh fun!

President Obama~!
awesome, i never thought my insomnia would benefit me :D

===================================
so yeah; today i woke up freakin 30 mins before my alarm going off...

i hate that.

i got ready to go to the city cos my friends and i were going to go eat yum-cha at Docklands.

we got to the docklands and we walked around the shops to burn some time; but we ended up kinda getting lost and we couldnt find the restaurant we were supposed to go to.
we found out where it was and it was on the other side of the area. =_=

anyway, we got there at around 2ish, we ordered quite a bit, but all of it ended up costing like around $53... pretty cheap cos we used Hannah's discount card :D

anyway, we went back into the city and we decided to get sticker photos cos we havnt taken one for ages; we went to this new joint and it was pretty awesome.

wasted so much money on those damn claw machines... they're bloody rigged i tell you.

we went home, but before that i bought some sour cherry cola gummies and a can of Dr. Pepper.

the Dr. pepper came in useful cos it took my mum a while to pick me up from the petrol (gas) station.

and i also had trouble with my Photoshop saying that the serial expired; after 15 mins of Hardcore googling - i found a solution and hallelujah; it now works again.

so yeah; here's my favourite photo of me and my friends.

did i mention it was a top of 40°C/104°F today?

Effing Hot

yeah so today; i slept at 6am cos i was playing team fortress 2 and trying to get achievements for my Heavy. i did get them eventually (at around 4am) then planned to go to sleep but ended up talking to Garbo for another 2 hrs.

anyway i wake up at 9 (by myself - amazingly enough) and try to wake up my sister cos re requested for me to do so at 9, which was then.
after a failed attempt, i went back to sleep and woke up at 10:30.

i had somewhere to go to later so i got my clothes ready; but before that i checked today's Weather.

Sunny with a top of 34°C

Holy Crap.
it's gonna be hot

so i got my vneck and my black skinnies (cos shorts doesnt work with that shirt) and got into the shower.
i had rice and leftover black bean chicken feet for breakfast (yeah; chicken feet), when i finished i brushed my teeth then got in the car.

mum drove my sis to the shopping center first, then me to the train station cos i was going to Federation Square to watch the Asian Pop Idol held by SYN.

well i got there in the comfortably air-conditioned train and met up with Jason.
we took our seats and watched singer after singer sing their favourite Asian Pop Song.

there was a Guest Judge from Japan, "The Road" as he liked to be called was a rapper and he busted some of his tracks during Half Time and also at the end.

there was a SHINee song sung (the eng vers of replay) and 2 DBSK songs (love in Ice and some other song) the others were ones i havnt heard of.

funniest part was there was this white guy who sang this Jap song and at the end he stopped too soon... and started singing again but the same word over and over again to the melody.

then there was also this guy - who was doing ok at the start but once the 2nd verse or something came on he stopped and complained to the tech guys that the backing track they were playing was the wrong one and this one had singing in it. it went on for a minute until the MC took the Mic off him and introduced the next act.

the winner was the White guy who sang the Japanese song; good on him.

afterwards Jase and I went to Minotaur cos i felt buying some Comics... there werent any that i wanted to buy. crap.

so we went back to Flinder's to go home and we also got some food from this viet. bakery in the food court section of the station.

i want a cool camera

that's right.

i've been wanting a really nice SLR for ages now and i dont have one... yet.

i mean even my dad has a point and shoot that isnt too bad (although it needs AA batteries - even though i specifically told them to get the one with the Li-ion).

why dont i use the point and shoot? because i like control.
especially with photographic and video equipment. i like to put things on manual so i can put my own spin on things. sure it's not as refined but that's what's cool about it; it's raw, it's personal.

i wanna do blogs like simon (ddonq) does, he's got atleast one picture in there. me? all words. and if you're lucky; one of my videos.

but yeah; i would definitely like to have an SLR.
the feel of the telescopic lens, your face gently pressed against the back of the camera as you peer into the viewfinder.

i dont even mind even one that uses film although developing your shots would be expensive. i'll just stick with digital.

anyWhoo

i havnt done much these summer holidays and they'll be over pretty soon.
but then again i have gone to sydney and a whole bunch of little things. i was supposed to go out with a couple of friends but it got pulled out (they didnt even let me know - i had to ask).

the new computer's fixed by the way; my cousin resetted the CMOS settings and pretty much rebooted the whole thing. this means i'll be able to play TF2 with no dropouts and weird Graphics, and also this means that i can get my hands on Left 4 Dead :D

which would then mean a gradual decrease in my grades. :P

anyway, i guess i've blogged for long enough.
i'll see you next time

take care.

PS.

i watched The Dark Knight using the Blu Ray drive and the 24" LCD that we got...

BEAUTIFUL, simply Gorgeous.
